As a specialist children's service, NHFT's Integrated Looked-after Children (LAC) Health Service works throughout Northamptonshire to support the emotional and physical wellbeing of children in care (or LAC). The Mental Health Team accept referrals from partnership agencies (including social care, education, and other health services) for children in the care of Northamptonshire's Children Trust (NCT), as well as other local authorities. Our population of looked-after children residing within Northamptonshire is approximately 1200 children.
NHFT values staff development and the post holder will be supported with training and development to enable them to achieve their full potential in this role.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working in an integrated skill mix team that includes Specialist Mental Health Practitioners, Social Workers, and Clinical Psychologists and Specialist Looked after Children Nurses.
The post holder will be responsible for working across multi-agencies to identify and meet the complex needs of looked-after children, including offering social work consultations, initial assessments, and direct therapeutic interventions.
The post holder will also be expected to have oversight of young people in inpatient settings and be the link clinician for discharge planning and care co-ordination, including those children who became Looked After post-discharge or are experiencing delayed discharge from inpatient services.
As a senior clinician within the Mental Health Team, the post holder will be expected to display clinical leadership, inform the development of evidence-based practice to deliver high quality care and optimise service delivery, and offer advice and support to the wider team where required and indicated.
