Opportunities have arisen for motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Occupational Therapists registered with the Health Care Professions Council to join our Therapy Teams at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The posts are rotational across DME, Orthopaedics (trauma and elective), Medicine, Surgery, Acute Neuro, Neuro Rehabilitation (at Clatterbridge Rehab Centre) and our Unplanned Care Team (A& E and assessment areas).

The service also works with Community Partners and offering rotations in discharge to assess bed based services with future plans to expand rotations into community services including Rehabilitation at Home.

Main duties of the job

• To maintain good working relationships with all other staff involved in patient care.
• To establish a rapport with patients in order to gain their compliance with the treatment programmes.
• To organise, manage and prioritise a clinical caseload of patients, under the guidance of senior therapists, clinical lead therapist and therapy team leader.
• To have a legal duty of care to your patients and to maintain a high standard of care.
• To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your work including patients treatment, use of equipment, resources, gaining consent and documentation (within Clinical Governance framework).
• The post holder is managed by a therapy team leader but has the freedom to act, regarding patient care, guided by protocols and guidelines for conduct. The results/ outcomes of treatment / performance are assessed at agreed intervals through the supervision appraisal process.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential

• Graduate Diploma or BSc Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification recognised by HCPC (or student Occupational Therapist with qualification pending)
• HCPC registration (or pending)
• Appropriate experience as a student or qualified Occupational Therapist
• Previous care experience
• Student placements in a range of core areas

Desirable

• Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapists or similar

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

• Basic computer skills

• Experience working as part of multidisciplinary team

• Active collection of relevant CPD in portfolio
