Due to complexity of trials, candidates with a vast oncology and chemotherapy experience of more than two years should apply. In addition, the candidate should have expertise in breast cancer research delivery and management.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways of patients/volunteers participating in oncology clinical trials and involve the recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data.

Job description

Job responsibilities

As a Research Practitioner, you will be expected to use an in depth knowledge of trial protocols and their application in practice, alongside a working knowledge and compliance with the local, national and international research regulations.

Delivery of recruitment targets in line with the contractual agreements and agreed time lines.

In conjunction with the line manager, be responsible for maintaining a balanced portfolio.

Open and manage allocated projects, set timescales and resolve problems. This includes management of the set up process.

Take responsibility for all areas of practice relating to the conduct of clinical trials and research studies.

Maintain accurate records of portfolio activities.

Resolve issues, any breaches and protocol deviations. Report Adverse Events (AEs) using appropriate procedures, including the expedited reporting of Serious Adverse Events (SAEs) and Suspected Unexpected Serious Adverse Reactions (SUSARs).

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Preferably 1st Degree/Diploma in Health Science, Nursing or other relevant subject


Desirable

  • Preferably with Masters Degree


Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care, Medicines for Human Use Regulations, Good Clinical Practice and the Health Research Authority (HRA)


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of undertaking clinical research
  • Experience of working in NHS setting or other substantial research environment
  • Management experience


Desirable

  • Experience in oncology and chemotherapy of more than 2 years
