*This is a fixed term contract until 31 March 2025 due to services being recommissioned*.

The post holder will work as part of the Bristol specialist psychology service within Bristol's drug & alcohol treatment system. The role involves assisting with the delivery of 1:1 and grouppsychological interventions to service users whose substance use has brought them into contactwith the criminal justice system, under the supervision of a clinical psychologist.The role will also involve supporting the teaching and training of other professionals onpsychological theory, research and its application to clinical practice, carrying out audits andservice evaluations as required and working collaboratively with other members of themultidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties:Clinical* To assist the delivery of a clinical psychology service under the supervision of the serviceclinical psychologist.* To provide psychological interventions to both individuals and groups under the direction and clinical supervision of the service clinical psychologist.* To work independently on a day to day basis, after goals have been agreed and reviewed inweekly clinical supervision.* To gather and organise information about opportunities and resources in the local area which may be of benefit to clients referred to the service (e.g. voluntary and communityorganisations, etc).* To work alongside other team members and ensure close liaison and communication with the BSDAS team and partner agencies.* To maintain a high level of professionalism at all times when working with distressed people.* To maintain good standard of clinical records and statistics in line with AWP requirementsas appropriate.

Supervision* To take part in weekly clinical supervision provided by the ADDER clinical psychologist.* In addition to the above to take part in group and peer supervision as required.

Teaching and Training:* To undertake relevant training as might be required to maintain an appropriate level of expertise.* To deliver teaching and training for other members of the multidisciplinary team and staff in other agencies, in collaboration with or under the guidance of qualified clinicalpsychologists.* To assist in the production of materials used for the purpose of teaching, training andgroup work.

Research and Audit* To assist with the audit and evaluation of the service including focus groups as required incollaboration with qualified clinical psychologists and other members of themultidisciplinary team.* To carry our literature searches and reviews as required.* To participate in audit and personal review activities as required.

Professional* To fully observe the relevant BPS Code of Conduct and Professional Practice Guidelines* To participate in the Service business and professional meetings as appropriate.* To be aware of and comply with all policies, procedures and directions of the Service, widerSpecialised Therapies department and AWP Trust.* To attend and make use of regular support and supervision within the BSDAS/ADDERpsychology team.

IT Skills* To help in the collection of data and the production of graphics etc. for publications, reportsand presentations as required by the Clinical Psychologist* To use statistical computer packages in the production of results for publications,presentations and reports

Person Specification

Essential & Desirable

Essential

  • BSc Psychology 2:1 or above (or equivalent)
  • Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society


Desirable

  • Experience of providing individual or group psychological interventions.
  • Knowledge of psychological models and their application to working with people with substance use and mental health problems
