Main duties of the job

The Royal Free Hospital is involved in a wide spectrum of clinical research sponsoredboth academically and commercially.The role of the data manager is to contribute to the continued delivery of the highestquality research through the management of patient data relating to clinical researchstudies. The post holder will support the research nurses/practitioners and medicalstaff in the collection and processing of clinical trial data for studies running within theClinical Research Facility.Working autonomously, under the direction of the relevant research team leader, thepost holder will collate data produced by the clinical teams and enter appropriatelyinto paper or electronic case report forms (CRFs). In addition, the post holder will liaisewith trial sponsors to ensure timely transfer of data, and resolving any data queries.The post holder will work within the guidelines of ICH GCP and local SOPs at all times.Other responsibilities will include assisting with the creation and maintenance ofInvestigator site files and databases of clinical trial activity, assisting with basic trialadministration and collection and processing biological samples and recruitment toobservational studiesThe post holder will be expected to develop skills and knowledge relating to the conduct of early phase clinical trials .

Experience

Essential

• Experience of being part of a team conducting a research project
• Computer literacy to include experience of Word & Excel & Access, experience of working EDGE
• Experience of working under minimal supervision
• Experience of dealing with confidential information
• Proven ability to work under own initiative
• Experience of planning and prioritising workload

Desirable

• Understanding of early phase clinical research studies

Qualifications

Essential

• Science related degree or equivalent
• Knowledge of drug development process and concept of clinical trials
• Knowledge of ICH GCP

Desirable

• Experience of working in a health care setting

Essential

• Ability to identify relevant details from complex data
• Ability to identify own training needs
• Willingness to work flexible hours and manage time effectively
