Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Clinical Standards Manager to provide management and guidance across the organisation. The post holder will ensure frameworks, systems processes and assurance are in place for best practice, evidence based practice, clinical audit and document control that will withstand regulatory scrutiny, ensure compliance is monitored and reported and effective remedial actions are implemented.

This role will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to establish and develop a high performing clinical standards function across a multiple site organisation that is part of and supported by a forward looking and ambitious ClinicalGovernance Directorate.

Main duties of the job

A specialist senior manager accountable for governing clinical standards frameworks and associated activity across the organisation and managing the underpinning functions and teams within the Clinical Governance Directorate. Ensure clinical standards are implemented and sustainably maintained.

Oversee monitoring and reporting of activity and performance from Ward-to-Board. Ensure barriers to implementation are addressed/escalated and partial/non-compliance is robustly management throughaction planning and risk assessment via Trust governance frameworks. Manage a range of associated projects and educational activities to support the remit. Responsible for all remit policies and procedures, that they meet legal, regulatory and best practice standards, withstand external scrutiny and provide high levels of assurance.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant 1st level degree
  • Post graduate degree (masters level)
  • Evidence of active continued professional development to support the delivery of a senior leadership role including experience in risk management and governance systems.
  • Teaching and training qualification or equivalent experience


Desirable

  • Executive management and working at sub-board level in a governance role within a NHS Trust.


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • Health service management
  • Experience of advising and liaising with staff at all levels, preferably in the NHS and academic institutions
  • Clear understanding of the issues prevailing around clinical governance, risk management, assurance and clinical standards
  • Experience of working in either governance, risk or audit
  • Experience of large scale project management and change AP/IN management
  • Delivering staff training courses and programmes
  • Full range of IT skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Delivering teaching sessions and presentations
  • Management experience including staff supervision, coaching, appraisal and development.
  • Able to demonstrate strategic thinking and develop/ formulate long term strategic plans over a number of years.
  • Prepare comprehensive, fit for purpose and audience specific reports and briefing papers.

  • In depth knowledge of the National Health Service and current national initiatives
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical governance, clinical audit & effectiveness and research & developmen

  • Advanced skills in the analysis and interpretation of information
