To work as a member of the Integrated Safeguarding Team within the Trust, The focus on the work will be to provide Specialist advisory, supportive and educative services to colleagues across the Trust with a focus upon MCA / DOLs and Safeguarding Adults.

The post holder will contribute to the wider Safeguarding Adult's work and facilitate multi-professional interagency working and training in respect of MCA / DOLS and Safeguarding .

The post holder will work with the Professional Lead for Safeguarding Adults and wider safeguarding team to ensure that there are robust internal policies and guidance and will act as a focal point for the dissemination of information in relation to policy, procedures and training. They will assist the professional lead for MCA / DOLS to develop professional standards and promote best practice and will provide accessible, accurate and relevant information and support to staff within the Trust regarding embedding MCA / DOLS and wider safeguarding activities.

They will act as a point of contact in order to provide advice and specialist knowledge to organisations and practitioners across the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Trust footprint.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide specialist advice and support on MCA / DOLS and wider Safeguarding Adults matters for all staff across the Trust.
  • To develop, maintain and evaluate a training programme relating to MCA / DOLS.
  • To co-work on complex situations with colleagues to develop competence and confidence in the management of MCA / DOLS and best interest decision making.
  • To access legal advice when appropriate and with support from Professional lead MCA/DOLs.
  • undertake regular audit of practice.
  • To quality assure all DOLS applications and provide advice on MCA within the Trust and maintain current databases
  • Participate in committees, forums and meetings as identified by the Professional lead for MCA / DOLS

Essential

  • NMC/Social work or HCPC registration
  • Degree or equivalent study related to this position
  • Up to date knowledge of professional issues relevant to this position


Desirable

  • Teaching / mentorship course or experience gained supporting colleagues
  • Supervision Qualification / course
  • Demonstrate professional development post-registration relevant to this post
  • best interest assessor or experience in supporting colleagues


Experience

Essential

  • Relevant post registration experience at Band 5 or equivalent experience in other registered professions (social work / HCPC)
  • Experience of multi-professional and multi-agency working
  • Knowledge of local and national policy relevant to this role
  • Wider knowledge of Safeguarding or willingness to develop new skills
  • Experience of teaching or willingness to develop new skills


Desirable

  • Research and development activity
  • Audit experience


Interpersonal Skills

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills including written and oral presentation
