We currently have an opening for an IT Trainer, focusing on the delivery of the IT Training function, particularly on our Electronic Patient Record system, provided by the IT Department.

The successful post holders will have experience training a wide range of personalities and levels, and should have a real enthusiasm for all things digital. Please review the attached Job Description and Person Specification for more information about the role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a comprehensive application support service to all Trust staff that will include the following:

Develop and deliver detailed end-user training programmes for all applications that are currently supported or being implemented by the IT Department.

Require a good understanding of the needs and requirements of the user community together with an in depth knowledge of the operation and configuration of the Trust's currently deployed and future state EPR system to ensure that it supports the Trust's business processes and objectives on an on-going basis

Under the guidance and direction of the IT Training Manager create comprehensive support and training materials prior to any supported application being placed into service. Documentation to be used by the IT Technical Support team and system end-users will be required before supported applications are put into service

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that relevant staff working in the Trust are trained in the use of Clinical Information systems to enable them to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently

Support the testing of clinical application enhancements and new application deployments under supervision of a project manager or test manager. Where necessary develop and run test scripts to confirm system reliability and resilience.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Provide IT training at an appropriate level for all relevant staff groups. Support IT Back Office services to all Trust staff under the guidance and direction of the IT Training Manager

Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and delivery of a range of end-user training tools to cover both existing and new applications supported by the IT Department. This will include but will not be limited to the creation of instructor-led courses which will incorporate end user training materials, intranet based systems and feature guides, e-Learning courses published on the Trusts intranet and m-Learning courses designed for use on mobile devices

Develop and plan a schedule of instructor-led training courses. Staff requesting off schedule courses should be steered in the direction of published e-Learning or m-learning courses

The post holder should be able to deliver training to groups taking into account that sometimes there may be complex and conflicting information around the experience and role of the target audience, the nature of system and the tasks to be completed and outputs expected.

Be involved in the review of IT training policies & procedures, making proposals as to possible changes to ensure training is in line with the needs of the Trust.

Perform functional and end user acceptance testing of any system upgrades that take place. Ensure that any issues uncovered are reported to local and Provider Service Desks as required and that all reported issues are suitably resolved to the satisfaction of the local business

Ensure that all staff undertaking e-Learning or m_learning programmes have acquired the necessary level of understanding before they are granted access to systems. This should be achieved by means of tests within the presented materials that can be assessed or by other external means.

Person Specification

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience and knowledge
  • The post holder must have a good understanding of both national and local IMT application developments


Desirable

  • A good understanding of education, training & development theory and methodologies
  • Knowledge of NHS business administration functions
  • Understanding of NHS terminology


Experience

Essential

  • Experience in translating identified training needs analysis from care pathways into training programmes including designing, developing and implementing training protocols and packages for key stakeholders, project staff as well as end users.
  • Extensive NHS experience working with EPR systems
  • Experience of working on projects
  • Experience of working within an organization operating an ITIL framework
  • Experience with providing IT end uers training (Preferably NHS)

  • Ability to construct test scripts and record outcomes of tests on software releases
  • Ability to produce training and educational materials for all Trust staff and where required be able to deliver and educate staff in the usage of applications and best practice
