We are looking for a suitably experienced Physiotherapist to join our well established Band 6 Respiratory Rotation on a temporary basis. The rotation has been developed for staff who have identified that the field of respiratory care is the area in which they wish to specialise. Staff rotate annually, allowing the development of expertise in a variety of Trust-wide clinical areas, including

Critical Care - Vascular Surgery and Upper GI/HPB surgery, Burns, Neuro trauma

Cardiothoracic Unit - including Cardiothoracic ITU, HDU, Heart and Lung transplantation and the LVAD programme

Acute Medicine - offering experience in Non-Invasive Ventilation, inpatient/outpatient management of Adult

Cystic Fibrosis and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

There is a well-established in-service training programme across all respiratory specialties. The successful applicant will be encouraged to participate in quality improvement, and service development.

Main duties of the job

  • Applicants should be Chartered Physiotherapists with HCPC registration, have experience as a Physiotherapist in the NHS in a rotational post providing a broad range of experience across the core areas of physiotherapy, including respiratory and be able to provide evidence of a commitment to CPD.
  • Good time management and organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure are also essential requirements of this post.
  • There is an on-call commitment with this post and you will be required to work on a rota pattern to support seven day working.

Job responsibilities

  • To provide a high standard of physiotherapy care to a complex patient group on each rotation.
  • To participate in the Senior Physiotherapy respiratory rotational scheme, which involves working across the Trust in a range of clinical settings some of which are regional specialities.
  • Senior rotational posts are designed to consolidate and build on skills and academic knowledge gained during the first two years post graduation allowing the physiotherapist an opportunity to spend longer in specific areas of work enabling further development of more specialist clinical and managerial competencies.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Advanced knowledge of a range of medical conditions and their impact on patient's functional abilities
  • Sound knowledge of the physiotherapy process

Experience

  • Experience as a physiotherapist in an NHS in a rotational post providing a broad range of experience across the core areas of physiotherapy including respiratory
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team


Desirable

  • Previous experience in a senior rotational scheme


Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • State Registered with Health & Care Professions Council


Desirable

  • Member of Chartered Society Of Physiotherapists
  • Involvement in the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Respiratory Care (ACPRC)
