Senior Staff Nurse - C805
An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse on Ward C805, Cardiology, in the Bristol Heart Institute.
The post is full-time and temporary until April 2025 whilst the current post holder is on a secondment. You will be expected to work a full range of shifts including long days, shorter shifts, weekends and nights.
We are looking for a dynamic experienced Nurse - Adult Registered who would like to develop their leadership skills. The post holder will be an experienced Band 5/6 nurse with cardiology experience who demonstrates excellent team working along with good communication and organisational skills.
The successful candidate will be supported to develop in their role and to lead by example to deliver excellence in patient care. You will be expected to be able to work as part of a team and lead that team to deliver the highest possible standards of patient care.
The Heart Institute is a tertiary cardiac centre and treats patients from across the south west with complex cardiac conditions. Ward C805 has 30 inpatient beds plus 4 boarding beds. It provides care to patients with a wide range of acute cardiology issues such as acute coronary syndrome, arrhythmia, heart failure, valve disease and congenital heart defects.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work in conjunction with an experienced nursing team to provide support and clinical expertise to all staff. They will also be supported in developing their managerial skills and extending their clinical skills and knowledge.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be able to:
- Act as a clinical expert providing specialist knowledge and advice to both nurses and junior medical staff working within the unit. Act as a resource to other areas within the Trust as required.
- Work towards safe and timely discharge plans and ensure barriers to discharge are identified and acted on in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Be proactive in supporting the nursing team and acting as a positive role model always promoting best clinical and professional practice.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills. Be actively involved in recruitment and staff development reviews. Facilitate orientation and training programmes.
- Act as nurse or ward representative at local and wider meetings.
- Participate and assist with systematic monitoring of performance and evaluation of nursing practice.
