Exciting Opportunity in the Imaging Department at Newham UniversityHospital to lead the CT department as a Modality Lead. This role is open to a link Grade 7 to 8A dependant on skills & experience.Are you ready to take the next step in your career? Join us at Newham University Hospital's Imaging Department. We are looking for dynamic and forward-thinking individuals to manage the day-to-day operations of our CT unit. Our fully digital Imaging Department is equipped with:

o 2 MRI scanners (with a second one being installed by April 2025)o 2 CT scannerso 5 digital x-ray rooms featuring new Samsung x-ray Imaging unitso Fluoroscopy suiteo Significantly sized Ultrasound unit

This year, we will perform a significant number of exams for our local community, and we need someone passionate about patient care to help us continue our journey of excellence and innovation.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage the daily operations of the modality.o Deputise for the Site Lead when necessary.o Act as the Radiation Protection Supervisor for your area and undertakerelevant training.o Perform duties related to incident, risk and equipment management.o Lead projects and support the team in innovative practices.o 50% clinical presence as part of your role

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc(Hons) Radiography or equivalent
  • HCPC registration
  • Certificate in IV contrast administration (CT & MR)


Desirable

  • Post-graduate qualification in Modality area or Management and Leadership (Level 5)


Experience

Essential

  • Up to date knowledge of relevant modality imaging techniques
  • Awareness of clinical governance issues in relation to patient care
  • Evidence of career-long commitment to CPD
  • Evidence of holding team members accountable in a way that supports their growth & development
  • Evidence of consistent completion of items contained within the job description


Desirable

  • Management of staff under HR Policy to formal level
  • Experience of supporting change in Imaging context
  • Engagement in the NEL Imaging network for Modality based workstreams
  • Experience in undertaking demand & capacity work in modality


Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work using own initiative but also to know when to seek assistance and guidance
  • Keep all records up to date in a clear, accurate, and concise manner on a day-to-day basis
  • A solid understanding of radiation legislation and its application in the workplace as it relates to Radiography practice
  • Ability to cope with conflict and complaints at the local level commensurate with Trust policies
  • Ability to make prompt decisions based on knowledge, experience, and circumstances
  • Able to work flexibly based on the needs of the service i.e. weekends, evenings and nights as required
  • Active participation in audit & research
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and ability to innovate & inspire
