Cardiothoracic Services is looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, highly motivated Senior Nurse leader to fulfil the role of Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Matron. The department has 12 intensive care beds providing top quality, modern facilities for the management of heart and lung disease, enabling our multidisciplinary teams to work together to provide a high standard of care for patients across South Yorkshire and the Humber region.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dynamic Senior Nurse, with extensive experience, to play a key role in the ongoing development of Cardiothoracic Surgical Services.

Main duties of the job

Strong professional leadership, clinical credibility and management skills are essential, as together with the Executive Team and Lead Clinicians, the post holder will provide visible leadership to deliver effective team working, effectiveness, patient focused care and excellent clinical outcomes.

The post holder will be instrumental in delivery of excellence and high-quality patient experience, whilst ensuring the operational delivery of the service.

The role of Matron is intrinsic to the success of the patient care pathway in influencing and working with our multidisciplinary and management teams. We provide a comprehensive range of services for the management of all cardiothoracic conditions.

Working within the framework of the Modern Matron principles, your key role will be to ensure clinical quality standards are achieved by providing inspirational and visible clinical leadership to the nursing teams working within CICU including Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

We are looking for a highly motivated, committed, and enthusiastic nurse leader passionate about delivering high quality compassionate care, who is equipped with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Relevant clinical knowledge in Cardiothoracic Services
  • To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
  • Evidence of relevant post registration academic achievement at Master's degree level or equivalent.
  • Commitment to further professional development
  • Leadership development
  • 1st or higher degree


Experience

Essential

  • Current experience at Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Proven change management skills
  • Ability to prioritise Objectives and Workload
  • Ability to motivate and develop Teams
  • Experience of budget management

  • Quality Improvement experience
