To work as a member of a discrete Neonatal Network Allied Health Professional (AHP) and Psychology Team that forms part of the West Midlands Perinatal Network (WMPN) incorporating West Midlands Neonatal Critical Care Network (WMNCCN).
To take a strategic lead in and facilitate in line with the recommendations of the National Neonatal Critical Care Review (NCCR) and the NHS Long Term Plan (2019), the delivery of a service to all neonatal units within the network that supports strategic development of equitable access to and provision of psychological support and intervention for families and neonatal staff and the development of psychologically informed care.
Main duties of the job
To work closely with the Network Senior Manager, Professional Leads and Network board to agree a range of priorities and key deliverables that will be embedded within the Network Action Plan.
To develop and implement matrix working practices with all Network stakeholder groups including the full multidisciplinary team within all provider Trusts, LMNS, Perinatal Mental Health Services, newly forming Maternity Mental Health Services (MMHS), QIS programme leads, bereavement services, Parent Advisory Groups, third sector organisations and Network Task and finish groups and work with national clinical psychology groups and organisations in order to achieve agreed project goals.
To have an overview of strategic planning across the network for neonatal psychology services and to work collaboratively with all other Consultant Clinical Psychologists to share strategic and managerial responsibilities.
This role will also involve commissioning and negotiating with individual providers/organisations for the provision of identified gaps in service to improve and develop neonatal clinical psychology service provision. This will promote equity and standardised psychological services across the region as well as supporting and preparing parents for key transitions.

- HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
- Post-qualification specialist training in particular psychotherapeutic approaches e.g. ACT, CFT, VIG, Infant Mental Health, CBT.
