An opportunity has arisen for a maternity cover combined post with the Oncology Day Unit ( ODU) and the Cambridge Cancer Trials Centre ( CCTC)

We are looking for an experienced Nurse with Oncology and Chemotherapy experience to join our rapidly developing service. You will have the passion and drive to take charge of the Unit, lead the nursing team and continue to help develop the service. You will have excellent communication and clinical skills, and put patients at the heart of your work. You will also manage a portfolio of trials within the CCTC Women's Team ( breast).

This is a unique opportunity to develop and share expert skills.

Main duties of the job

To assist the Senior Sister in the overall management of the Oncology Day Unit and to provide safe, individualised, holistic and evidence based, patient focused care for Oncology patients within the service. Also to manage a portfolio of studies working closely with the multi-professional healthcare teams helping to identify patients eligible for clinical trials provide information and support for patients entering clinical trials co-ordinate trial patient treatment, assessment, follow up and data collection according to specific trial protocols.

  • Registered Nurse
  • Health profession qualification

  • Oncology/Haematology post-graduate qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in caring for adults in an acute care environment
  • Experience of working in a research environment or Significant experience in oncology/haematology


Desirable

  • Database design and query generation. Use of databases to abstract and present data
  • Experience of working with external organisations
  • Experience of managing own workload
  • Clinical research experience

  • Evidence of research awareness
