An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse on B4 Neurosurgery and C4 Neurology. We are looking for a Deputy Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to help lead and support our team of nurses clinically and co-ordinate the flow of patients between B4 Neurosurgery, C4 Neurology, T4 Neuro high care, ICU, Theatres and other outside organisations. The successful candidate will regularly take charge of the clinical area and ensure the standards and quality of care given to patients and clients, together with the environment in which care provided, are maintained at a high standard.Experience working within Neurosurgery and Neurology would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job
On B4 Neurosurgery and C4 Neurology we care for patients who undergo complex surgery to their brain and spinal cord and who have sustained traumatic brain injury. We also look after patients with a variety of Neurological conditions and video telemetry. We take pride in delivering an exceptionally high standard of care to our patients whilst supporting their relatives and carers within a challenging yet supportive acute hospital setting. As a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse you will be responsible for the evaluation, planning and execution of care plans without direct supervision of senior staff and oversee the ward daily in the absence of the Ward Manager. The post holder will be responsible for supervising students, new and junior members of staff and provide direction as well as motivational appraisals. They will need to be proficient in assisting with the assessment and recognition of emergencies in the area and take appropriate action and guide others to do the same. Every effort must be ensured to improve and maintain their expertise and professionalism whilst developing in the role as a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse.
