An opportunity has arisen for a Forensic or Clinical Psychologist post within the Wales Offender Personality Disorder Pathway Team (OPDP), This is a partnership role with HM Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS). The role is hosted by Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB) but involves work across South Wales.
The National OPDP Pathway is a consultation/ formulation led service to support men and women with complex needs and risks during and after their transition from custody to the community. Men and Women in the Criminal Justice System commonly present with complex mental health difficulties, trauma symptoms and challenges managing risk related behaviours. These individuals can often face challenges and barriers to accessing support. The over-arching aims of the role are to:
Support Probation Practitioners in their work with People on Probation, to enhance risk management.
Support People on Probation to manage their complex needs and risk related behaviours.
We are looking for acompassionate individual, who is keen to support risk management across this population, to work responsively to needs across the South Wales area.
Main duties of the job
Working within the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway Team (OPDP), you will bejoining a developing, highly specialist and supportive multidisciplinary team of psychologists, probation staff and transitional liaison nurses.
This post will have an administrative base in SBUHB, however, most work will require agile working, in an autonomous manner, across a number of probation sites in South Wales. This post is part time, on a permanent contract, and will involve travel across a wide geographical area.
The OPDP team invests in staff development and support. There will be opportunities to network nationally and participate in research to further develop the access to services in Wales.
The post holder will beexpected to contribute to ongoing service development alongside fellow professionals and service users/ people on probation. They will receive ongoing support via clinical supervision.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential
- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or masters level training in forensic psychology
- Training in/or experience of models of psychopathology, risk assessment, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology.
- Two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
Desirable
- Training in relevant intervention skills .
- Pre-qualification training and qualifications in staff training and / or other fields of applied psychology.
Experience

- Experience required to fulfil the post.
- Use types of achievements and activities that would be likely to predict success in the role rather than 'years', e.g., Extensive previous experience of working with health finance systems.
