The Estates Department provides a comprehensive maintenance, repair and installation service of the buildings, grounds, engineering services and associated equipment throughout the Trust.

You must hold a recognised trade apprenticeship and a minimum qualification of BTEC, ONC, HNC or similar certificate or equivalent qualification/experience and previous electro-mechanical maintenance experience would be advantageous as would being conversant with Health & Safety issues.

You must hold a current UK (manual) driving licence and reside within half an hour normal travel time to fulfil on-call duties.

The role is Monday - Friday with participation in an emergency on-call rota plus opportunities for overtime and weekend working.

Base Location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • 5 years minimum experience in an Estates/Engineering environment.
  • In depth knowledge of complex building services plus hands on capabilities.
  • Completed a structured apprenticeship/structured training.
  • Experience of Planned Maintenance CAFM systems.
  • Worked in and delivered in a KPI driven environment.
  • 2 years Supervisory experience.


Desirable

  • Health service experience


Technical Skills Competencies

Essential

  • Sound technical knowledge of the built environment, services, plant and equipment. In association with Hospital equipment.


Desirable

  • Competent in electrical/mechanical and building services


Knowledge

Essential

  • Fault diagnosis using technical drawings, manuals and bespoke database systems
  • Permit to work systems in line with HTM's
  • In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of BMS system and able to interrogate, analyse, make adjustments.


Desirable

  • Working in an NHS engineering background.


Interpersonal skills

Essential

  • Good communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Team player.


Other requirements specific to

Essential

  • Participate in an ''Out of Hours On-Call Rota''
  • Driving licence and have suitable vehicle available for periods of on call duty
  • Ability to treat any matters confidential.
  • Good general level of fitness to meet the demands of the role

  • AP for essential HTM services e.g. Electrical HV/LV.
  • IOSH Health & Safety management certification
