In Solent NHS Trust Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) west we have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Non-medical Independent Prescriber trainee to join our growing Nurse-led ADHD pathway.

Solent CAMHS West is a well-established multidisciplinary team that works with children and young people from 5 to 18 years who present with complex and enduring mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions.

Over the past year our ADHD Pathway has been under transformation both within our team and across Southampton city. We are looking for a clinician with a professional qualification relevant to CAMHS e.g. registered nurse, pharmacist etc. who has a special interest in neurodevelopmental disorders and is motivated to undertake a post registration training/qualification in Independent and Supplementary Non-Medical Prescribing. Candidates will be enthusiastic and motivated to work within the team to continue to build on recent service developments, have an interest in research and evidence-based practice and enjoy being a part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The successful candidate will work within the ADHD pathway, conducting Neurodevelopmental assessments, provide consultation at multidisciplinary panels and work alongside Non- Medical Nurse Prescribers to undertake medication review clinics as well as providing support to the wider CAMHS team, including initial assessments and duty triage, as per when needs of the service arises.

Support and supervision will be provided through out training and we have an established medical supervision group and extensive clinical supervision groups that can be accessed throughout training and post qualifying.

Having experience of working in a CAMHS setting would be advantageous although not essential as supervision/support for those from Adult Mental Health background will be given. Being committed to delivering high quality services for children, young people and their families is essential.

A few words from a member of the team -
