Are you looking for an opportunity to lead? to make a difference. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and passionate leader to join our team to cover a 12 month secondment, to work as part of Maudsley Learning & Trust Learning and Development Team as the trust-wide Seni Lewis Training Programme Lead.

You will have the responsibility to Lead in the Implementation, development and delivery of a new comprehensive trust wide training programme which focuses on a trauma informed and human rights approach to reducing restrictive practices in all mental health settings in the trust.

Main duties of the job

Support the Senior MAST Clinical Lead in the ongoing development of the Seni Lewis Training Programme launching it, co-ordinating it, updating, evaluating, adhering to Reducing Restraint Network (RNN) Training standards.

Work with internal and external stakeholders, including people with lived experience and carers.

In conjunction with the Senior MAST Clinical Lead and the Nurse Consultant for Reducing Restrictive Practices (RRP), the post holder will be responsible for identifying annual training and development needs.

And develop training plans to support the services in the delivery of these in line with the Reducing Restraint Network Training Practices.

Work with the MAST Clinical Lead, lead the coordination of the timetabling/scheduling of course provision for Seni Lewis Training Programme to support the education and training plan, maximising the use of available resources.

Deliver the Seni Lewis Training Programmes and use Quality Improvement methodology to continuously improve the programme.

In conjunction with senior clinical colleagues (e.g., Lead Nurse for Reducing Restrictive Practice, Consultant Nurse Restrictive Practice), provide a point of expertise for clinical services.

To have clinical and training expertise in reducing restrictive practices and the management of violence and aggression.

Job responsibilities

To direct & support with the development, strategic and operational management of the Seni Lewis TrainingProgrammewithin the Trust.

The Seni Lewis Training Programme Lead supports the Senior Mandatory and Statutory Training (MAST)

Clinical Lead and the MAST Clinical Lead, in delivering and operationalising the Trusts agreed face-to-face MAST training whether virtual or in person, for our staff to be equipped with the right skills to deliver safe patient care.

In conjunction with the Senior MAST Clinical Lead and the Nurse Consultant for Reducing Restrictive Practices (RRP), the post holder will be responsible for identifying annual training and development needs. And develop training plans to support the services in the delivery of these in line with the Reducing Restraint Network Training Practices.

Evaluation of the SLTP will be a key task, from initial reactions to the training through to improvement in clinical practice.

The post holder will be responsible for the management and supervision of the Seni Lewis Training Programme Facilitators both permanent Learning & Development staff, and in-house tutors who largely work in the service.

The post holder will support the setting and maintaining of high standards for service delivery and building capability within the Directorate across all areas of Mandatory and Statutory training. The role is based within Maudsley Learning in the Trust Learning and Development Team.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualifications Relevant degree qualification or equivalent, Recognised teaching qualification, Registered Clinician, with professional registration, Evidence of Continuing Professional Development


Desirable

  • Master's degree Project Management qualification Education/ Leadership development/ OD/change management qualification Registered Senior Tutor or working towards Senior Tutor status with the General Services Association


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a mental health setting Experience of Learning and Education to include leading and developing teams of staff. Experience of identifying, developing, and commissioning/delivering education and learning initiatives that meet clinical need. Experience in identifying training needs and delivering large scale learning solutions. Experience of multi-professional collaboration at senior level. Experience delivering education and training programmes, tools, and techniques on an organisation wide basis. Experience of working in a culturally diverse environment and knowledge of methods to develop cultural competency. Experience of therapeutic working with vulnerable people including those at risk of restraint.


Desirable

  • Knowledge in education and training relating to mental health services. Experience of running the technological aspects of education and training initiatives. Experience of leading on service/educational change. Creating learning programmes for external validation/QA experience-Working with Service users and carers in developing educational developments (Co-Production) Partnership working with statutory and voluntary organisations. Experience of inclusion, equality, and diversity training Experience of research, publication, and presentation. Experience as a simulation faculty member. Experience of managing staff Experience of managing projects and producing reports to deadline


Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Understanding of the key patient safety education and training issues effecting staff groups across the trust and an ability to advise on related clinical issues and policy Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Nice Guidelines on Violent and aggressive behaviours, safeguarding processes and other relevant legislation with the understanding of the implications for clinical practice development for Mental Health settings. Understanding of the inequalities of Black and Mixed Ethnicity service users in health care Understanding of training tools and techniques- Trained in GSA techniques and physically able to perform these. Able to negotiate with and influence across a broad spectrum of people, building commitment and ownership in others.


Desirable

  • An in-depth understanding of health care provision and awareness of current NHS policies and priorities Knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks such as NHSLA, CQC, Ofsted etc. Knowledge of best practice facilitation and negotiating skills Quality and service improvement in education and development. Able to establish a culture of continuous improvement initiating ideas, responding to change opportunities
