Are you an experienced Paediatric Physiotherapist who wants to develop their clinical and leadership skills?

We are a dynamic, friendly team looking for like-minded applicants to join us. You will be an autonomous practitioner within a well-established team of clinicians and will have chance to manage a mixed caseload of children and young people, including neurological, developmental, and musculoskeletal conditions, across both town and rural locations.

Travel will be required based on service need and as a community team, access to a car for work purposes and a UK driving licence will be essential.

Our service provides assessment and intervention for children and young people with physical difficulties, aged 0-19 years. We work in partnership with families and carers in a variety of settings including special and mainstream schools, patient's homes, and community clinics.

You will be expected to use and develop your skills using a variety of approaches and treatment modalities and to work closely with colleagues in other disciplines in order to provide a child-centred, holistic approach to care. You will also participate in the development of other staff and of the service.

Main duties of the job

The Paediatric Physiotherapy Service provides clinical placements for students from Keele University and the post holder will be supported to become a clinical educator.
  • You will undertake a physiotherapy role for assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment programmes for children in the most appropriate location in the community.
  • The position is expected to be based in and around our Staffordshire locations, though the exact location will be determined by the successful applicant
  • Be competent as appropriate to the requirements of the role.
  • Demonstrate at all times the Organisation Values of People, Empowerment and Partnership.
  • Be a Specialist Physiotherapist and have detailed professional and clinical knowledge.
  • Be responsible for a defined population of service users aged 0-19 years in a variety of settings, including the child's home, schools, and clinics across the Partnership Trust.
  • Be skilled in the assessment of complex/specialist care needs and in the development, implementation, and evaluation of care/support packages for children and families.
  • Have supervisory responsibilities where appropriate and participate in service development and improvement.
  • Demonstrate initiative and be creative in finding solutions to problems.
  • Work with the Team Leader undertaking delegated tasks in team management.

Person Specification

HCPC Registration/Qualification

Essential

  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Modules at Masters level or equivalent clinical courses within area of clinical expertise.
  • Experience of working as a Qualified Band 6 Paediatric Physiotherapist
  • Registration with HCPC


Desirable

  • Masters qualification in relevant area that will support the delivery of the service.
  • Further clinical study relevant to clinical practice with emphasis on management of neurological conditions and MSK conditions.
  • Attendance at relevant Special Interest Groups


UK Driving Licence

Essential

  • Access to own vehicle

  • Experience in the assessment and management of Paediatric conditions. Ability to manage time and caseload effectively. Supporting service users, families and carers in dealing with issues within the area of clinical speciality. Working in a multidisciplinary team. Experience of negotiation and conflict management and in clinical situations. Presentation skills.
  • Evidence of specialist clinical knowledge relevant to the post. Understanding of Information Governance, Data Protection, HCPC/CSP standards and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults/Children. Knowledge of relevant NSF's and NICE guidance. Understanding of wider NHS agenda and its application to the local context.


Desirable

  • Evidence of project work. Experience of managing and implementing change.
