Band 6 Physiotherapist - Respiratory Support Unit
A great opportunity has arisen to join our team on the Respiratory Support Unit at Glenfield hospital. This role plays a key part in supporting patients with complex respiratory needs including non-invasive ventilation and tracheostomies. You will gain experience in complex airway management, complex discharges and be key in promoting patients recovery and rehabilitation. The role will also allow you to work closely with the MDT and gain skills in supervision and leadership.
Glenfield Hospital is a tertiary specialist center for respiratory care with one of the country's only dedicated cardiorespiratory admissions unit. There is also Cardio-Thoracic surgery, a Renal unit and adult congenital Cardiac Surgery. There is a large Critical Care unit including ECMO beds, and a regional specialist adult Cystic Fibrosis and Bronchiectasis unit.
Main duties of the job
You will be working alongside an established team of Physiotherapists to develop your clinical, leadership, teaching and service development skills whilst working within a supportive and motivated department.
You will demonstrate effective communication, prioritisation and organisational skills within a large multidisciplinary team, whilst being responsible for managing a complex clinical caseload from assessment to discharge or transfer of care.
You will receive regular supervision and appraisal and will actively be involved in service development, audit, research and evidence based practice.

- Be responsible for managing a complex clinical caseload from assessment to discharge/transfer of care, in order to facilitate a timely and safe discharge from hospital.
- Plan, deliver and progress treatment interventions using clinical reasoning and decision making skills in order to work towards and achieve identified patient goals.
- To facilitate annual appraisal and personal development planning for relevant members of the Physiotherapy Team.
- To participate in the induction of Physiotherapy Staff
