To work as a specialist podiatrist providing high quality specialist podiatry care, to maintain mobility, tissue viability and relieve discomfort.
Provide the highest quality of podiatry care to patients with a variety of care needs, both in the acute and community settings.
Be responsible for a caseload providing clinical treatments to high-risk patients, to maintain mobility, independence, tissue viability and to relieve discomfort.
The post holder will also be required to work with podiatry assistants/technical grades, podiatrists and student podiatrists and to work as part of a multidisciplinary team acting as a source of specialist advice for patients, carers, GP's and other healthcare professionals.
The post holder will be required to have an input in to health education and health promotion, participating in training sessions, based upon best practice and with a high level of knowledge and skills in Diabetes, wound management and Biomechanics.
The post holder will be expected to be an effective part of the Podiatry team, adhering to Podiatry Department and Trust policies, strategies and objectives, and actively contributing to their development
Main duties of the job
This post is for a skilled podiatrist who will work within MSK (musculoskeletal podiatry) and high risk routine care. It will involve clinics with complex wounds and care -planning. The post will also involve supervision of junior members of staff, and participation in research activities.

- BSc Podiatry degree with local anaesthesia/POMs certificate

- Undertakes clinical audits, as necessary to own work/ regularly undertakes research and development
- Understanding of confidentiality issues
- Knowledge and experience of working in health care setting
- Co-ordination and sensory skills for use of fine tools, scalpels, nail surgery and manufacture of complex orthoses
- Candidates must be prepared to work for periods of time in restricted positions throughout the day, in order to deliver clinical care frequent light/ moderate effort for several long periods
- May have to carry equipment
- Computer and keyboard use
- Orders supplies for own speciality and liaises with team leader for appropriate stock control
- Makes judgements on complex clinical podiatric problems which require investigation, analysis and assessment
