The directorate of acute & specialist medicine at St Mary's Hospital is seeking a dynamic and flexible operational manager to join our senior leadership team as the business manager for the acute medicine and hepatology services. This is a 13 month fixed term / secondment opportunity covering maternity leave.
The directorate is made up of a broad range of clinical services including gastroenterology, hepatology, acute medicine, as well as nine inpatient wards and a liver day unit. The post holder will be responsible for the operational and financial delivery of the acute medicine and hepatology services and will work closely with the deputy general manager, heads of specialty and senior nursing leads.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication and leadership skills, strong financial and workforce management experience and a commitment to improving quality and performance. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking at furthering their senior operational management experience. The successful candidate will be fully supported by the excellent and experienced directorate and divisional leadership teams.
The post holder will be based at St Mary's Hospital, which has excellent transport links.
Main duties of the job
The Business Manager will report to the General Manager and provide appropriate support to them, the Head of Specialty and the Clinical Director in the delivery of all operational functions of the directorate. This will include overseeing the administrative teams within the department, ensuring key performance targets are met and Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to.
The Business Manager will be responsible for ensuring appropriate data is available, analysed and presented to support business decision-making, forging the gap between financial and business management. The post holder will provide an increased focus on the delivery of streamlined, efficient services which are managed and benchmarked nationally and internationally. These roles will lead on the project management of the cost reduction programmes and organisational change.
