Bodmin Hospital Inpatient Occupational therapy team are looking for a full time Band 5 Occupational Therapist.
Bodmin CATU (Clinical assessment and treatment unit) is a progressive short-stay ward with a fast-paced assessment unit. The overall aim of the CATU is to provide place-based care through an inpatient chair / bed based comprehensive assessment service for individuals who require short term medical, nursing or therapy assessment.
The philosophy of the CATU is for patients to receive their required assessment and treatment either on the day and discharge home or for an average admission length of 72 hours or transfer to another place of care for ongoing care needs.
You will have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of admissions/conditions/social problems and hone your assessment and intervention planning skills.
It is an innovated service that is constantly evolving to suit and adapt to the needs of the community and the service users and therefore we require a 'can do' attitude and a keenness to learn and develop.
As an Occupational Therapist on the CATU, you will be assessing the function and needs of people living with acute illness or disability and deliver interventions which improves wellbeing and quality of life, maximising independence and supporting people back into the community.
Main duties of the job
As an integral member of the Therapy Service, you will be supported in developing your clinical skills, integration with the wider MDT and community services. As an education focused team, you will have access to an in-service training programme, clinical and peer supervision, as well as wider learning and development opportunities. We encourage our staff to actively participate in both service improvement and leadership development. We have strong links with our local university, enabling us to make valuable contributions to fieldwork education. You will be given the opportunity to supervise both students and therapy assistants.We have a structured model for supervision and appraisal that will support you in developing your clinical and management skills.
The post is currently full-time but we are happy to discuss hours that suit you.
