Are you an experienced band 5 or 6 Occupational Therapist wanting to develop or consolidate your skills in an award winning Trust? Do you want to join an exciting band 6 rotational programme that covers a range of specialities across acute and community settings? We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic, driven and forward thinking Occupational Therapists to join our Band 6 Occupational Therapy rotation. Driven by your enthusiasm and interest in gaining a breadth of experience at senior level within a friendly and proactive Occupational Therapy service you would provide specialist assessment and interventions across 21 different areas, including:

o Elective orthopaedics, o Older people/Medicine (OPU) o Oncology o Specialist Therapy Assessment Team in A& E o Lane Fox Unit (Respiratory) o Surgery/Vascular wards o Hand therapy o Trauma & Orthopaedics o Stroke o Enhanced Rapid Response & Supported Discharge o Guys & St Thomas' @ home service o The Pulross Centre (inpatient rehabilitation unit) o Amputee Rehabilitation Unit o Community Rehabilitation & Falls

Main duties of the job

Each rotation lasts 9 months giving you an opportunity to develop specialist clinical and non-clinical skills.

Our professional offer to you:As a Band 6 OT you will have an opportunity to:o Develop your discipline specific skills, e.g. assess for suitable equipment, minor home adaptations, cognitive assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planningo Develop your skills in complex case management of clients beyond the scope of your traditional Occupational Therapy practiceo Develop your skills in holistic assessment, problem solving and joint working with other health and social care colleagues, GPs, hospital teams and voluntary sector agencies o Develop supervisory, leadership and service development skillso Access appropriate GSTT leadership development training courses to support career development o Support you to be involved in Occupational Therapy clinical meetingso Develop your skills in service development

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to work autonomously with individuals and groups.
  • Knowledge and understanding of activity/occupation in relation to work and well being.
  • Application of Occupational Therapy models of practice and evidence based practice.
  • Knowledge, understanding and application of Occupational Therapy process relating to client centred practice.
  • Demonstrate sound techniques in applying a range of specialist sensory, physical and manual assessments and treatments.
  • Ability to analyse tasks and activities, synthesise findings and develop goal orientated treatment plans.
  • Ability to delegate appropriate tasks to Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor's, Assistants and students.
  • Ability to support, supervise and educate students on practice placements, Occupational Therapy Assistants and Technical Instructors.
  • Understand and apply principles of risk management to clinical practice.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks for self and others.
  • Ability to appreciate the sensitivity, complexity of context, culture and diversity within clinical practice.
  • Ability to manage and recognise differences of opinion in both patient related and inter-professional settings coping positively with interpersonal tensions/barriers.
  • Excellent communication and interactive skills.
  • Willingness to work flexibly


Experience

Essential

  • Postgraduate experience in physical disability.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.


Desirable

  • Experience in physical disability.


Training & Qualification

Essential

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Adherence to College of Occupational Therapy and HPC guidelines and codes of ethics and
  • State Registration HPC


Desirable

  • Membership of Occupational Therapy special interest groups.
  • Membership of professional body.
