We are looking to recruit an Occupational Therapist, part-time or full-time, to join the Multidisciplinary team at Gainsford House. They will be a Band 6 or a Band 5 looking to move into a Band 6 post, with relevant experience. They will join the Band 7 in post and the Assistant Therapy practitioner, working with 12 in-patient clients, within the mental health rehabilitation unit.

The Occupational Therapy team within the unit is linked with the 2 other in-patient teams - also in Hitchin and St Albans, and work closely with the community rehab team -Eros. There is a strong support network in place, including a Rehab OT Consultant, and staff are encouraged to work in developing and improving the service we offer. To support this, training is offered internally and external courses can also be accessed, to support service development.

Using a recovery focused approach, and through specialised assessments, based on MOHO, we identify goals that are important to the client, and use a wide range of interventions to facilitate this to be achieved. This may be individual sessions, or group settings and can be on the unit, in the community or the client's own home. The unit is self-catered, so supporting clients to re-engage with this aspect is important. We work closely with the MDT, daily as well as clinical reviews and CPA's to ensure excellent communication. Being able to document and feedback on the interventions you are completing is essential, both for client progress and sharing the role of OT within the team.

Facilitating student placement is essential, both for service development and learning opportunities.

Establishing communication networks outside of the unit is vital, with family and carers, other services within the Trust and also within the community.
