An exciting SCP opportunity has arisen to join our highly reputable Specialist Kidney Cancer Team. You will drive, lead, and showcase the Surgical Care Practitioner role delivering advanced perioperative care to patients with kidney cancer in a high-volume centre.
We are recruiting 2 dynamic Surgical Care Practitioner's to join us in a major role to transform from traditional practice and develop and innovate a SCP-led service ensuring seamless and effective care to patients on a kidney cancer pathway.
You will be expected to act as a role model within a highly specialised role, championing change and improvement in cancer care through research and innovation, education and leading-edge practice ensuring our patients receive the very best and latest in kidney cancer diagnostics, cancer treatment and care.
The successful candidate must hold extensive urology and theatre experience and have completed their SCP training. Additionally, you must demonstrate visionary leadership with an ability to inspire and motivate others.
The role will be pivotal to working collaboratively with the MDT team to expand SCP-led services to shape the vision of a world class Urology service.

- Extensive experience in Urology (Kidney) Robotic/Laparoscopic/Open Assisting as SCP for: ? Partial Nephrectomy ? Complex partial nephrectomy (i.e. multiple partial nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy on single kidney and multiple partial nephrectomy on single kidney) ? Radical Nephrectomy ? Retroperitoneal Partial/Radical Nephrectomy ? Nephroureterectomy ? Radical Nephrectomy with IVC thrombectomy ? Reconstructive surgery (i.e. Pyeloplasty and Ureteric reimplantation) ? Adrenalectomy ? Para-aortic Lymphadenectomy ? Cancer, benign and reconstructive kidney surgery
- Independent in flexible cystoscopy: ? Follow up flexible cystoscopy post nephroureterectomy for non-muscle invasive TCC and mascle invasive TCC ? Stent removal post pyeloplasty ? Preoperatively to nephroureterectomy for diagnostic purpose
- Experience in running nurse/SCP led clinic: ? Preoperative surgical clinic (including kidney biopsy) ? Follow up post kidney cancer treatment ? Active surveillance for kidney conditions ? Post-operative follow up SCP clinic
- Experience in a senior nurse role in an acute NHS setting
- Experience in perioperative management of complex surgical patients
- Able to use skills of history taking and physical assessment to direct patient care
- Extensive experience in theatres
- Experience of working autonomously at an advanced level within the specialist area
