An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Financial Services team. You will be a qualified Accountant or actively working towards gaining your professional accountancy qualification. The successful candidate, who will be an integral member of the senior Financial Services Team, will be responsible for providing comprehensive technical accounting advice and information to the Trusts Departments and Care Groups to support delivery of the Trusts capital plans. As a senior member of the Financial Services Team, you will get involved in work to support the wider functions of the Finance Department, including looking at ways to drive forward quality improvements in processes and procedures adopted by the Team. Main duties of the job
This role is key to fulfilling the accounting and reporting requirement of capital and leasing on behalf of the Trust further details are included within the Job Description.
The successful candidate will provide support to Departments and Care Groups responsible for delivering the capital programme, ensuring that their annual budgets are utilised to the benefit of the Trust and that any external funding is drawn down accordingly.
Furthermore, this role will be responsible for maintaining the Trusts Fixed Asset Register ensuring that it is accurate and reconciled to the General Ledger.

- Worked in technical finance position, applying professional standards of accountancy, in a complex organisation.
- Analysing data for completeness and accuracy, interpreting and forming conclusions and performing detailed calculations correctly, clearly and efficiently.
- Solid and extensive staff management experience, including experience of recruitment, appraisals and discipline procedures.
Knowledge
Essential
- Ability to analyse highly complex financial data, effecting allocation of budgets and external reporting.
- Ability to interpret International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) and apply them to the NHS framework
- Experience of working within the finance function in a complex organisation
- Highly developed, In-depth specialist knowledge, experience & understanding of financial accounting principles and practice.
- Demonstrable grasp and application of International Financial Reporting Standards, IFRS 16 and IFRC 12 in particular.
- Extensive experience of general ledger and associated financial systems, with demonstrable evidence of implementing and making improvements to those systems.
- Demonstrable experience of designing and reporting of complex Financial Accounting information and providing detailed advice and guidance for a variety of users
- Demonstrable experience of implementing and maintaining sound financial governance procedures
Desirable
- Operational and demonstrable experience of completing accounts to a high standard with a clean audit opinion.
Qualifications
Essential
- CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant with equivalent knowledge and experience, or actively working towards qualification

- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- European Computer Driving Licence.
