We are looking for an individual who has the ability to both deliver high quality systemic interventions, and develop the skills and knowledge of universal practitioners in children and young peoples mental health.

Our Sunderland Community Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Service is a well-established innovative and creative targeted (Tier 2/Getting Help) service. This post is integrated within Sunderland Community CYMHS.

The skilled individual will join a multi-disciplinary team in the development and delivery of interventions that identify mental health difficulties at the earliest stage, and facilitate the provision of services that promote resilience, and enable positive mental health. The systemic practitioner will be based in Sunderland , and will be integrated into the Sunderland south team however expected to deliver systemic interventions across our 3 Sunderland bases.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to have sound knowledge and skills pertaining to Children and young peoples mental health, and be able to work autonomously as a practitioner and collaboratively with colleagues across a wide range of professions and organisations. The successful applicants must have, Appropriate professional qualification E.g nursing, social work, teaching, occupational therapy or equivalent, and Level 1 foundation and Level 2 intermediate/CYP-IAPT qualification in systemic practice.

As Primary Mental Health Specialist you will be required to carry out mental health assessments and also work with families who require a systemic treatment intervention. The service has a robust supervision structure, and offer a robust internal training offer.

Evidence of relevant continuous professional development. Experience of working with Children and Young People in the role of a CYPMH Clinician is essential

The service currently operates Monday Friday, The post would be required to move around the other CYMH bases in Sunderland. A good working knowledge and experience of Safeguarding

Job responsibilities

The post holder will support the Clinical lead in the development and delivery of a comprehensive systemic therapy programme within the community childrens and young peoples service. The service is comprised of generic and specialist Primary Mental Health Professionals providing a service in a getting help service, and supporting professionals from other agencies and providing the link between getting help and getting more help services.

The post holder will operate at an advanced clinical level, offering leadership, clinical supervision and support to professionals working within the mental health team and will be responsible for leading the development of a comprehensive systemic therapy programme for children and young people in Sunderland.

The post holder will take a lead role in the development of integrated pathways and early intervention treatment programmes for children and young people presenting with a range of emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties. .

The post holder will develop networks of support for senior professionals, with a range of complementary skills will be proactive in influencing the service and the transformational plan, and will contribute to interagency collaborative relationships to ensure joint planning and delivery of services.
