An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacy technician to join the specialist pharmacy team working in HIV/SHAC and clinical infection in Brighton. You will work as part of a dynamic team, in an expert centre, based in a new purpose built facility, providing care to inpatients and outpatients within the speciality.
We are primarily looking for someone who is enthusiastic about working in the speciality. Prior experience is not necessary as full training will be given.
This post offers an opportunity to work towards a band 6 role supported by a bespoke competency framework-based development programme with incremental enhancement.
Main duties of the job
The HIV/SHAC Pharmacy Team is an integral part of both the wider multidisciplinary team and the Clinical Infection Pharmacy Team, and within our friendly department you will be supported and encouraged to progress your career.
You will join our specialist pharmacy team providing clinical and holistic pharmaceutical care to inpatients and outpatients, including:
Main duties will include providing a pharmacy technician led medicines management service to inpatients under the care of HIV and Clinical Infection you will be responsible for co-ordinating this service and driving it forwards to promote optimised patient care and flow.
You will also support outpatient services in a clinic environment and work with the team to ensure rational medicines use across the speciality and sites of work.
You will be trained and supported to deputise for the lead pharmacy technician for HIV/SHAC research.
You will be part of a friendly, inclusive and supportive multidisciplinary team that includes nationally recognised consultants and clinical academics, and provides many informal and formal opportunities for training, learning , development, audit and research.

To be an integral member of the teams providing highly specialist pharmaceutical support to inpatient and outpatient services in HIV, sexual health and antimicrobial specialties at UHS-RSCH.
To provide a pharmacy technician-led medicines management service to ward LMB B6 at RSCH to drive this service forwards, ensuring efficient admission and discharge processes, enhancing patient flow and optimising workload.
To communicate with the clinical pharmacists and with other members of the pharmacy and multidisciplinary team to facilitate seamless care for patients.
To assist in pharmacy antiretroviral clinics providing patient education, adherence support, interaction, and toxicity review.
To evaluate clinical services, guidelines and cost efficiency strategies where appropriate provide feedback to senior teams on these matters.
