Main duties of the job
To deliver Cardiac Investigation services and to be effective members of the Cardiology Department by providing a high standard of Cardiac physiological service and patient care. It is understood that the post holders may be required to participate in a flexible working hours system.
The Post holders will undertake and report physiological investigations on adult (minimal paediatric) patients in non-invasive, Echocardiography (with supervision), invasive and CRM (Cardiac Rhythm Management).

Applicants must hold BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) / BSc Healthcare Science (Cardiac Science). We actively support continuing professional development, to candidates working towards British Society of Echocardiography Accreditation or to those working towards IBHRE/BHRS. We also encourage and support attendance at relevant training courses and at both national and regional meetings.
At Dorset County Hospital we perform Coronary Angiography and intervention, providing a primary PCI service during normal hours (not 24/7). We have two Cath labs where we implant brady and complex devices including ICDs and CRT.
There is ample opportunity to get involved in developments within the department.

- Participate in the delivery of a specialist clinical service and deliver a high standard of care to all patients
- Participate in the on-call rota, providing a 24 hour emergency service for cardiac catheterisation labs for adult and paediatric patients
- Rotate through sections of Cardiac Services department to build and maintain a body of specialist knowledge and apply this to practice
- Continue theoretical and practical training via experiential learning and designated advanced course attendances in order to further develop a specialist area of practice

- BSc Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or recognised equivalent (HTECH MPPM)
- BLS/ILS Certificate

- BHRS or IBHRE Accreditation
- RCCP or recognised equivalent registration
Knowledge and Experience

- Demonstrate experience as a Band 5 or Band 6 Cardiac Physiologist

- Evidence of contributing towards service development and education

- Evidence of work in non-invasive diagnostic service (fitting holters and BP monitors, performing 12-lead ECGs)
