We are excited to be able to offer this exciting opportunity to join our niche team of Cardiac Nurse Specialists on a permanent, part-time basis.

The successful candidate will be RSCN or RN Child Branch accredited.Relevant clinical experience in paediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery is essential along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Bristol Royal Hospital for Children is the level 1 tertiary surgical centre for paediatric cardiac surgery in the South West of England and South Wales. We are a centre of excellence, not only dedicated to the care of children but committed to on-going personal and professional development for staff. As such, a strong emphasis is placed on training and teaching.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an efficient, well-motivated and enthusiastic nurse with experience of caring for patients and families affected by both congenital and acquired heart disease. The post holder, as part of the wider cardiac/cardiology team, will support children and families from across the South Wales and South West Cardiac Network during their patient journeys, and will act as a primary point of information for the wider multidisciplinary team network wide.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Have extensive knowledge in Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development


Desirable

  • Have experience of undertaking audit and research projects
  • Have community nursing experience
  • Teaching in practice

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with allied healthcare professionals at all levels within the organisation and at regional level
