We are looking for an exceptional and experienced Service Manager to join our team at the Royal London Hospital (RLH) as Service Manager for Stroke, Neurology and Neurophysiology. The post sits within the Neurosciences, Spine and Stroke directorate which encompasses:
Neurosurgery
Spine
Neurology
Stroke Medicine
Neurophysiology
Clinical Health Psychology
The Royal London Hospital Stroke Medicine Service includes a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) which admits stroke patients from across North East London and an Acute Stroke Unit (ASU) for local Tower Hamlets residents. The Royal London is also the largest provider of Mechanical Thrombectomy in the UK with approximately 25% of all patients who receive this treatment in the UK each year receiving care here. Stroke Medicine is an exciting service, with opportunities to collaborate both regionally and with different sectors to improve pathways and care for this group of patients.
Neurology is a growing speciality with an expansion business case in development and exciting research through close links with Queen Mary University of London.
This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high performing team in a high-profile organisation providing stretch, development, and challenge for the successful candidate. The role is well supported by an Associate General Manager as well as the wider management team.
Main duties of the job
The Service Manager is a key management role and is responsible for the operational delivery of all aspects of the service areas. Key aims are:
Provide timely, efficient and effective operational service management support for Emergency Care and Trauma services, assisting the Clinical Director, Lead Clinicians and General Manager to ensure that these services are responsive, innovative and provided to the highest possible clinical and performance standards.
Take forward agreed projects to improve service delivery and patient experience in key areas.
Lead on ensuring that all performance/quality targets are met.
Problems solve as appropriate, and develop and implement lasting solutions in conjunction with clinical colleagues. To be a key member of the Divisional Management Team, taking full responsibility for actions and for keeping other team members fully informed at all times.
The post holder will manage a team within the division.
