Intermediate Neurorehabilitation Unit (INRU)

We are keen to recruit a Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist to work within our Trust in a well-developed and experienced neuropsychology service. This permanent post will really benefit someone looking for a diverse range of experience in neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation, as well as gaining key skills in supporting safe discharge planning. We anticipate that the post will suit those keen to develop their clinical skills/portfolios, particularly those considering or working towards QiCN status.

We are happy to consider applications from soon to qualify/recently qualified practitioner psychologists who would be appointed at Band 7 initially.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of and enthusiasm for working within neuropsychological services and will provide a service of specialist assessment and intervention, working with a team of multidisciplinary staff. There are excellent opportunities within the service to become involved with service developments and with audit and research projects. The service has close links with Lancaster and Liverpool Doctorate Training Programmes and is the Host Trust for the Manchester Doctorate Programme, and you may gain valuable experience in supervising other staff as a result.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oProfessional qualification in Clinical Psychology at doctoral level (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
  • oRegistration as a Clinical Psychologist with the HCPC


Desirable

  • oPost qualification training in Neuropsychology


Experience

Essential

  • oExperience of working as a Clinical Psychologist within Neuropsychological services post qualification (less experienced candidates will be appointed at Band 7 and work towards 8A competencies)
  • oExperience of providing supervision and training
  • oPrevious experience of neuropsychological assessment and delivering structured psychological interventions to clients with complex neuropsychological presentations
  • oExperience of working with clients with challenging behaviours arising from neuropsychological conditions


Desirable

  • oExperience of working within stroke/neurorehabilitation neuropsychology services in either community or inpatient settings
  • oExperience of working within a multidisciplinary team within NHS Services


Knowledge

Essential

  • oDoctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology.
  • oKnowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.


Desirable

  • oKnowledge of legislation in relation to clients of the service eg Mental Capacity Act and DOLS


Skills

Essential

  • oSkills in the use of complex methods of neuropsychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
  • oSkills in providing clinical consultation to other professionals.
  • oAbility to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and to liaise effectively with other professionals
