The Team Leader for Digital Systems is a great opportunity to lead and manage the Trust's EPR Systems and Software Development/Dev Ops functions. You will be committed to the development of others and of yourself to deliver innovations that impact directly on frontline users enabling the delivery of good patient care.

To do this effectively, you will have good communication skills, facilitating links with other support functions and operational teams. You will need excellent organisational and problem-solving skills being able to plan, schedule and coordinate the delivery of multiple workstreams.

The post holder must have the ability to travel countywide or further afield at short notice.

Main duties of the job

1. To lead the delivery and day to day management of the relevant aspects of the Digital Health Team's function, including software development (Dev Ops), EPR development and administration, related projects and training

2. To be a role model the Trust values in all activities and interactions, leading by example

3. To demonstrate leadership whilst providing cover in the absence of line managers to ensure that functions within the realm of the team continue to be delivered to a high standard

4. To be a Digital Systems expert, providing specialist advice and guidance to managers, health professionals and other relevant members of staff on relevant Informatics related issues, understanding the relationship to their programmes of work

5. To provide significant support in leading change processes across the delivery of Digital Systems services, maintaining up to date skills and knowledge to support new ways of working.

6. To manage the recruitment, selection, development and retention of the relevant aspects of the Digital Systems Team and actively support the recruitment within all areas of Informatics

7. To direct, supervise and motivate within areas of responsibility within the Digital Systems Team to deliver an effective and efficient service

8. To provide line management across the Team ensuring all team members receive regular high quality supervision and appraisals

9. To support the Head of Digital in the management of the wider Digital & Data team, providing cover

Job responsibilities

The Team Leader Digital Systems, is responsible for leading and developing the functions of software development (DevOps), Clinical Systems (Electronic Patient Record (EPR) development, administration, and training) and Clinical Systems development projects in the Informatics Team

The Team Leader Digital Systems reports to the Head of Informatics supporting this function to manage the functions of the Informatics Team they are responsible for including:

- Identifying and scoping areas of innovation and development

- Leading Informatics led projects

- Developing the workforce identifying areas of need and opportunity to ensure the organisation has the right tools and resource in place

- Developing, creating, and monitoring the strategic workplan

- Providing proactive cover in their absence

- Responding to critical incidents as these arise

The post holder will lead the development and maintenance of Informatics-led clinical and corporate systems understanding the links and working collaboratively with data services ensuring they meet the current and future needs of the organisation

Qualifications

Essential

  • Master's degree underpinned by theory and experience or evidence of a minimum of 3 years working successfully in a similar management/leadership role
  • Ongoing evidence of continued professional development as appropriate in either a leadership or technical role
  • Microsoft Office 365 training or equivalent experience with the use of a variety of Office 365 packages
  • Line management training and experience


Desirable

  • Recognised project management qualification e.g. PRINCE 2


Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of successful leadership, coaching and management skills within a large diverse organisation.
  • Experience of managing, developing, recruiting and retaining staff
  • Management of a team to facilitate delivery of team objectives
  • Experience of working with patient records systems
  • Working knowledge of Data Services tools
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully delivering technically complex workstreams
  • Experience of developing and delivering training packages
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence for a senior manager level audience
  • Knowledge of Data Protection Act, GDPR & Information Governance
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and architecture


Desirable

  • Working within NHS or Social Care
  • Experience of mental health working in either the NHS or an Independent Service Provider
