We have and exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialist Band 7 Paediatric MSK Physiotherapist. The post holder will deliver Highly Specialist Paediatric Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy assessment and treatment to paediatric patients participating in specialist clinics such as consultant clinics, ponseti method casting and baby hip scanning clinics. To undertake the role of paediatric outpatient musculoskeletal lead within the service to include leading, planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating the MSK outpatient paediatric physiotherapy service.

The post holder will be required to work effectively in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, other health professionals to promote the development, planning and delivery of paediatric physiotherapy MSK intervention programmes and training in this specialist clinical area. You will act as a source of expertise to fellow Clinicians, Managers, Healthcare Professionals and other services internal and external to the Trust as required.

To undertake clinical audits and evaluation of evidence-based practice, initiating/participating in research within specialist area. To co-ordinate, supervise and appraise staff and students. This post is based at our Heartlands site however, the Trust is a multi-site organisation, and you may be required to work at any of the Trust sites were deemed necessary.

22.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

To deliver advanced Musculoskeletal assessment, management, and treatment of paediatric outpatients, some with diverse presentations and complex conditions to develop and deliver individualised specialist treatment programmes. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records.

To provide day to day management, leadership and coaching to Paediatric Physiotherapy colleagues within the outpatient and inpatient paediatric physiotherapy team and across the wider team to ensure positive and collaborative working relationships.

To lead training and development of staff working within the Musculoskeletal paediatric conditions.

To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your clinical care for patients under your management and support junior staff to do likewise.

To supervise, initiate and participate in regular evidence-based audit and research projects to further clinical practice. Make recommendations to Clinical Team Leader for changes to practice by the team. Lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols within area of practice.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • * Good standard of general education including English language and mathematics, A levels or equivalent
  • * Degree in Physiotherapy
  • * Registered with HCPC as a Physiotherapist.
  • * Evidence of relevant postgraduate training in specialist area


Experience

Essential

  • * Relevant postgraduate experience in specialist areas relevant to the post
  • * Experience of NHS based work.
  • * Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including recent courses relevant to Musculoskeletal physiotherapy
  • * Evidence of IT skills
  • * A range of suitable experience of working within a Primary Care setting and/or acute Musculoskeletal outpatient paediatric setting
  • * Ability to use Musculoskeletal clinical skills to systematically diagnose/assess patient/client problem.
  • * To understand and evaluate complex situations and information to formulate an appropriate course of action. The ability to frequently modify planned activity to suit the need of the individual.
  • * Experience of paediatric Musculoskeletal physiotherapy with management of complex patients
  • * Experience of effective staff management and leadership
  • * Experience of managing students at clinical tutor and supervisor levels
  • * Experience of training staff groups at all levels
  • * Evidence of working effectively in partnership with others within multi-disciplinary teams and across agencies
