An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist within the PATH (Psychosis: Prevention, Assessment and Treatment in Hertfordshire) Service. PATH is a specialist service for those experiencing a first episode of psychosis in Hertfordshire.

We are implementing the Access and Waiting Time Standard for early intervention in psychosis (EIP), which is a clear national priority for the NHS. This standard will make a major difference to the quality of care received by those with First Episode Psychosis (FEP) and greatly improve their ability to recover.

This development post is suitable for a newly qualified Band 7 Clinical or Counselling Psychologist who has keen interest in psychosis and wants to develop skills and knowledge to the level of an 8a clinician. Clinical or Counselling Psychologists with significant experience working with individuals with psychoses can be appointed directly into Band 8a.

It is anticipated that this post holder will work with people accessing the service within East and South East Hertfordshire, but there may be a requirement to work more widely across Hertfordshire to deliver the service.

The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and be skilled in working with recovery based and collaborative approaches to care planning, working flexibly and creatively with people in order to achieve their individual goals. Main responsibilities include good governance of psychological therapies for people with psychosis, providing assessment, therapy, supervision and consultation. An important part of this role is effective data collection to evidence the efficacy of psychological interventions.

We are very keen to offer a bespoke professional development plan with opportunities to further develop the skills of the post holder, including opportunities to train in family interventions and CBT for psychosis. PATH has close links with other Early Intervention services and is part of the East of England Early Intervention in Psychosis Clinical Network. Hence, there are opportunities to meet other EIP professionals outside of the Trust and attend CPD sessions run by the group. For applicants who are keen in wider professional development such as teaching, supervising and conducting research, there will also be such opportunities available. We have established good links with University of Hertfordshire DClinPsy course and regularly support trainees on placement.
