We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic Speech and Language Therapist to take on this exciting opportunity to cover a nine-month maternity leave cover within our clinic and outreach traded services across Bolton, starting in September 2024.
You will be working with children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties.
We welcome applications from newly qualified therapists and experienced Band 5 therapists. You will need to have a recognised Speech and Language therapy qualification, HCPC licence to practice and be a registered member of RCSLT.
The successful applicant will be confident to work independently, have proven team working and communication skills and sound knowledge of assessment tools and therapeutic intervention relating to the caseload. You will be supported to develop skills with working with bilingual clients as appropriate, to meet the needs of our diverse population in Bolton.
Main duties of the job
If successful, you will join our dedicated team of Paediatric Speech and Language Therapists and Assistants working collaboratively, with a range of professionals including 0-19 practitioners and education staff. You will work with a paediatric caseload with children within the clinic environment or on an outreach basis into schools.
You will need to be able to assess children using a wide range of informal and formal assessments provide verbal and written advice devise therapy programmes and be able to train parents and staff in different health and educational settings in the implementation of these and also provide written advice which could be used towards Education and Health Care Plan (EHCPs) annual reviews.
You will therefore need to demonstrate good communication, interpersonal, organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.

Working independently as an autonomous practitioner as a member of the Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy team delivering a service to children with a wide range of communication difficulties.
Assessing, differentially diagnosing and treating a specified caseload of children with speech, language and communication impairments some of whom will be from a variety of ethnic and social backgrounds. This may include working with interpreters and Bilingual Speech and Language Therapy Assistants to assess all languages which children are exposed to. Assessments will take place in school settings as well as clinic, and it is therefore essential that you are able to travel around the borough.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team providing advice for the statutory assessment and EHCP annual review process.
Liaising with, and training other health, education and social service professionals and to work in partnership with parents/carers and external agencies to ensure the delivery of a high quality service.
