We are recruiting for an Associate Director - Capital Projects in the Division of Estates & Facilities. Your role will be to manage the Capital Projects Service, overseeing capital investment which includes a range of schemes within the approved capital programme, accurately reporting on progress to Capital Programme Steering Group.

You will be responsible for the commissioning and management of all capital projects and capital annual programmes of work and willprovide capital project guidance and support to the organisation.

Main duties of the job

On a day to day basis, your role will include, but not limited to:-
  • Lead the continuing review and refinement of the Trust's strategic Site Development Plan, ensuring that programme and project plans are appropriately aligned and that the dependencies and interfaces between projects are managed to deliver the Trust's strategic development objectives.
  • Take overall responsibility for the production of the Trust Site Development Plan (SDP) incorporating historical site development, planning and access restrictions and identifying a range of options for future site development. The SDP will be required to form a critical component of the Estates Strategy, applications for planning permission and support the overall Trust Strategy and Major Strategic Capital decisions at Board level.
  • To produce and report on Strategic Capital cash flow forecasting for the �140m investment programme, reporting directly to Trust Board on a quarterly basis.

The ideal candidate will:-
  • Have recent experience of delivering major capital project to time, cost and quality
  • Experience of managing teams of Project Managers and consultants
  • Possess a Masters level or equivalent/professional qualification or have substantial equivalent experience
  • Be self-motivated, with high work standards for self and others.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Substantial senior management experience in a large, complex organisation
  • Recent experience of delivering a major capital project to time, cost and quality


Desirable

  • Recent senior project management experience with a major construction scheme in the NHS


Qualifications

Essential

  • Masters level or equivalent/professional qualification or substantial equivalent
  • Recognised qualification in Programme/Project Management


Skills

Essential

  • Knowledge of the technical design, delivery and utilisation aspects of construction projects.
  • Understanding of contract negotiation strategies and management.
  • Clear understanding of the current healthcare agenda. Commitment to modernising health services for the benefit of patients, public and staff.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
