Dorset Minor Injuries Needs you!
Would you like to work beside the seaside, in the lovely coastal town of Swanage on the Dorset Jurassic coast?
Would you like to gain more valuable experience in Minor Injuries?
We would like to welcome an experienced Band 6 Minor Injuries Practitioner to work in our small but busy, friendly team within our Minor Injuries Unit. This is a part-time post, and will include working some weekends and Bank Holidays.
The unit is open 7 days a week throughout the year
Are you a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Practitioner with at least 2 years' experience of working in emergency and/or minor injury/ailment care?
Working in the Minor Injury Units in our friendly community hospital, the unit serves the local communities in Purbeck, and surrounding area.
You will be working as an autonomous practitioner within the Minor Injuries Unit assessing, treating, referring or safely discharging home any patients both adult and children attending the units.
Recognising and taking appropriate actions in an emergency situation.
Whilst working within Dorset Healthcare there are many opportunities to further your career progression with a wide range of in house and external educational courses enabling you to advance your clinical practise.
Main duties of the job
To work as an autonomous practitioner within the Minor Injury Units
To assess, treat, refer or discharge any patient attending the Minor Injury Unit
To recognise and take appropriate actions in an emergency situation.
To take clinical responsibility for patients, carers, students and other junior health professionals
To be able to provide health promotion to patients
Maintain a high quality of care for all patients attending the unit
Facilitate access of patients into secondary or community care settings as appropriate
Taking part in educational opportunities and audits to allow for professional development
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Essential
- Registered Nurse/ Emergency Care Practitioner/ AHP qualification in Specialist field to degree/diploma level
- Teaching skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of Safeguarding vulnerable adults and children
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act (where applicable)
- Demonstrated knowledge of Deprivation of Liberty Act

- Supplemented by diploma level specialist training and/or short courses, or equivalent level of experience

- At least 2 years' experience of working in emergency and/or, minor injury and/or ailment care
- Recent previous experience of working within a customer focused environment

- Ability to undertake physical examination in order to diagnose previously undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
