As a Senior Nurse for our Community Hospital you will provide professional leadership for the nursing teams within this area. You should possess significant relevant clinical experience at Band 7 or above and demonstrate a good understanding of Community Hospitals. You will need to demonstrate strong clinical and professional leadership within the Primary Care & Communities Care Group, being a visible and supportive role model.

In order to be effective in the role you will need todemonstrate an excellent understanding of patient flow, management process, Putting Things Right and Safeguarding. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and have the abilityto work with autonomy to provide highly specialised professional advice to colleagues to ensure high standards of direct care delivery. This includes interpreting and implementing national policy and supporting systems for professional revalidation and performance management of ward managers that are accountable for quality, safe care

As a key member of the Senior Nursing team, you will work closely with the Lead Nurse and Head of Nursing to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe and cost effective patient-centred care.

To succeed in this role you will need to inspire and motivate through good communication skills. You must be willing to embrace a broad range of new challenges, possess the knowledge, and drive to create and deliver the best pathway for our patents.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

Be responsible for the professional leadership, management, and governance of Community hospitals within Cwm Taf Morgannwg

Provide leadership, direction and development of registered Nursing and allied healthcare professional staff.

Support the Senior Nursing Team and Service Manager to ensure the highest standard of nursing care is provided, monitored, and evaluated within the areas of responsibility.

Be required to interpret national and health board policies and procedures and advice on the implantation of these for their area of responsibility.

Support processes and audits to monitor the quality of care, clinical practices, incidents/claims, and professional registration.

Be responsible for undertaking investigations of clinical incidents, complaints and professional issues following University Health Board Policy and acting upon findings/recommendations.

Be part of a Senior Manager/Midwifery on-call rota, and will be expected to be part of an on-call roster, covering an identified shift in line with the current agreed on-call process.

Responsible for ensuring that their teams continually deliver improvements to patient services aligned to the principles of Values Based Healthcare. Ensuring a culture of continuous improvement is embedded throughout their area with improvement plans in place.
