An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced psychologist or psychological therapist with expertise in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). You will lead a DBT team, as well as holding a more varied therapy caseload which will help you consolidate and develop your wider clinical skills. You will also have the opportunity to lead a DBT Family Connections group for relatives and carers. You will be based with one of the three Community Mental Health Teams in Southampton, and will provide supervision, consultation, and training to staff across the teams.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for working with people who are often stigmatised and excluded. You will be well-supported to develop your skills in clinical work, supervision, consultation, and leadership. Support will be offered to complete your accreditation with the Society for DBT as well as your Supervisor Accreditation if required. You will have the opportunity to supervise DBT trainees, as well as managing three DBT therapists.

Applicants should have significant experience of delivering DBT and ideally other therapies for people with complex emotional needs. We are looking for someone who has well-developed interpersonal and clinical skills, together with the resilience needed to thrive in a busy city-based NHS service.

You will join a friendly and supportive team of psychologists and psychological therapists with a wealth of expertise including CBT, DBT, CAT, ACT, EMDR and psychodynamic approaches. We have good supervision structures and an excellent track record of CPD, as well as strong academic links.

You will receive professional leadership and line management from a Principal Clinical Psychologist. You will receive clinical supervision tailored to your own practice, including joining our existing DBT consult group.

The advertised role does satisfy the sponsorship requirements for overseas candidates.
