8B is a 24 bedded General Medical ward caring for all patients with a variety of simple and complex medical conditions.

Main duties of the job

• Co-ordinate the workforce and running the shift ensuring effective and safe delivery of services within the Ward
• Provide clinical expertise with up to date knowledge and skills.
• Be accountable for managing an escalation area, whilst demonstrating the trusts values and behaviours.
• Be responsible for leading the team in the absence of the Ward Manager.
• Work closely with members of the wider MDT to ensure patients are discharged without delay.

Qualifications

Essential

• Registered Nurse Level 1
• Teaching certificate - ENB 998 or equivalent

Desirable

• Evidence of former professional development.

Previous Experience

Essential

• Broad based clinical background and strong professional knowledge.
• Evidence of teaching in clinical practice
• Previous experience in nursing patients
• Team leader or people management experience.

Desirable

• Experience of implementing change.
• Experience within the field of Renal Medicine

Knowledge, Skills & Aptitudes

Essential

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrate strong leadership skills
• Able to demonstrate a flexible approach to the provision of holistic, clinically effective care.

• IT skills
• Willing to undertake expanded practice roles as required.
• Undertaken the four HR training courses, recruitment and selection etc.
