We're proud to be different. Whether it's for being one of the first NHS trusts in England to provide joined-up hospital, community and social care services, or being at the forefront of the NHS' digital revolution with our human-led digital innovation programmes which are transforming the way we deliver care, we love being a leader in what we do. Providing high-quality safe care really matters to us - and we've won awards for it too.
We have more than 6,000 dedicated people who are delivering compassionate health and social care in people's homes, in our communities and across more than 15 sites in Torbay and South Devon, including our main acute hospital site at Torbay Hospital. Thanks to their hard work we are one of the 20 best NHS hospital trusts in the country for cancer performance and one of just a handful to have met the faster diagnosis standard for more than 16 months.
Main duties of the job
As our Chief Finance Officer, you will be as committed as we are to delivering sustainable, transformative care. You will have the experience we need to lead and direct our plan to bring long-lasting value and sustainability financial stability across our large and complex organisation, in line with our strategic priorities to deliver better health and care for all.
With experience of working at or close to board level and recognising our role as an anchor institution for the community, you will understand the importance of forging effective partnerships with our people, community groups and other parts of our health and care system. Your ability to develop and maintain partnerships will be critical to drive the change we need.
About us
Why Work With Us
We're proud to be part of the government's new hospital programme and while we progress our business cases, we're building our brighter future by bringing in additional capital from other routes which in the past two years has given brought multi-million-pound investment in our new acute medical unit, endoscopy training centre, day surgery and eye surgery unit and radiotherapy centre are helping us to reduce the time people are waiting for care and improving their experience of our NHS.
Our exciting plans to deliver our new electronic patient record by 2026 will be a game-changer, helping us to transform the way we share information, deliver care and improve efficiency across Devon.
Like many trusts, however, we are managing rising demand for services and workforce pressures with the money and resources available to us we are subject to the national oversight framework (NOF4) and are working with our partners across Devon to deliver a plan that will bring financial stability and improved performance.
If you are a chartered accountant operating at either deputy or board level, within a trust, system, regulatory or similar environment, are motivated by our challenge, and have the skills and experience we need to lead our recovery and beyond, we want to hear from you. This is a full-time role, with flexibility around base/location blended with travel and remote working.
