SCAMHS Mental Health Practitioner working within the Eating Disorders Team, supporting young people and families experiencing eating disorders and recovery.

Main duties of the job

A position has arisen for a Band 6 CAMHS practitioner, to work with the SCAMHS Core Eating Disorders Team (EDIT), based at Ty-Bryn Unit at St Cadoc's Hospital. The EDIT team is part of the CAMHS service. The EDIT team aims to work intensively with families, young people and other agencies in order to support young people struggling with the effects of eating disorders and difficulties. The post holder will act as care coordinator for a number of young people, facilitating individual and family work to support recovery.

The post is open to qualified practitioners with CAMHS experience.

The post-holder will be expected to develop and deliver evidence based group and individual work, and will be required to work closely with families, across a range of settings. The post holder will also be required to offer evidence based individual work with young people experiencing psychological distress. The successful applicant will possess a range of evidence based therapeutic skills, and will be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a multi agency and multi-disciplinary way.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Occupational Therapist or Allied Health Professional
  • Additional post graduate training in a range of therapeutic interventions or advanced practice


Desirable

  • Teaching/mentoring qualification.


Experience

Essential

  • Relevant experience up to at least band 5 level.
  • Evidence of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Evidence of leading change or new initiatives or other service development.
  • Evidence of supervision and development of junior staff.


Desirable

  • Previous experience working within S-CAMHS.


Aptitudes and Skills

Essential

  • Experience of working with children or young people who have serious mental disorders and engage in risk taking behaviours.
  • Experience of working within a multiagency environment.
  • Communicate verbally and effectively with service users, managers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Effective skills and knowledge of mental disorder, risk assessment and management.
  • Able to plan and coordinate multi-disciplinary care programme.
