An exciting opportunity has opened up to join our Interventional Radiology nursing team in Bonsai Ward.

Main duties of the job
To take an advanced role in the activities within the Radiology departments, in specialised areas as required, maintaining a high standard of care at all times. You will be expected to work autonomously, organise the running of clinics as well as scrub duties and recovery.
To assist in booking patient lists and pre admission assessment of patients. To deputise for the Sister when required and to supervise junior staff
To communicate effectively with internal and external agencies. To undertake Continual Professional Development
To adhere to Trust and Departmental policies and procedures

Clinical responsibilities:To take an advanced role in the activities of the Radiology departmentTo carry out duties within a specialised environment as requiredTo assist with patient selection, the organisation of the admission, careand discharge or transfer of patientsTo ensure that all patients are treated with consideration and care that isappropriate to their condition, using clinical judgment as to the optimumtechnique, selection of equipment and other parametersAssists in maintaining custody of controlled drugs by ordering, checkingand administering and ensuring their safe handling and administration.Liaise with other staff to ensure the smooth running of the RadiologyservicesTo comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, The IonisingRadiations Regulations 1999, the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures)Regulations 2000 and the departmental protocols for the implementation ofIR(ME)RTo abide by the local rules for radiation protectionTo take part in the provision of an out-of-hours serviceTo be aware of the principles of clinical governance and ensure thatworking practices conform to these principlesMaintain professional standards at all times2.
