Details of the HEIS post
This is a fixed-term full-time post shared between the Haringey Early Intervention Service HEIS (6PAs) and the Crisis and Resolution Home Treatment Team (4PAs) owing to the current post holder vacating their post for personal reasons At the end of the 12 months there is the possibility for extension. Clinicians working in the Haringey Early Intervention Team are encouraged to apply for training in Peer Supported Open Dialogue and to contribute to the implementation of this innovative treatment approach in Haringey services.
Details of the HCRHTT post
This part of the post is 4PAs based at St Ann's Hospital with the Haringey Crisis and Resolution and Home Treatment Team. It will provide excellent experience of working with people with a wide range of acute mental health problems, frequently in a crisis situation. The CRHTT provides urgent crisis assessments and intensive support aiming to avert the need for inpatient admission, when safely possible. It also supports early discharge from hospital to home or the recovery house.

Key Duties for HEIS post
The post-holder will provide psychiatric input to the team. This involves seeing patients mainly in an outpatient clinic at St Anns Hospital. Clients might be seen at home, in clinic or remotely.
The key responsibilities are to provide bio-psycho-social assessment, diagnostic formulation, risk assessment and management advice including onward referral and discharge arrangements as appropriate. This will include working with the families and carers and liaison with other agencies. All of this must be supported by appropriate and timely clinical documentation.
The post-holder will be expected to carry out these tasks mainly autonomously. However there will be regular opportunities for ongoing support and supervision from the Consultant in the team.

Services are provided to
Adults aged 16 and over suffering from an acute episode of mental illness where the risks involved are such that without the intervention of the HTT they may require admission to an adult hospital ward
In-patients who may be appropriate for discharge, who are in stable accommodation and who are willing to engage with the CRHTT
Older Adults (65 years of age and over) who are suffering from a functional mental illness

- Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a current licence to practise from the GMC at intended start date
- Section 12 approval
- Open Dialogue Training
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Excellent communication skills, verbal, non verbal and written
- Formulate effective working relationships
- Function autonomously as well as being a team player. Commitment of working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Assessing, formulating and prioritizing patient needs
- Understanding of clinical governance
- Experience of working in a multi-cultural society
- Skills in a range of therapeutic and psycho-social treatment options
- Basic computer skills, including ability to use e-mail and Internet
- Experience in data gathering and management
- A current driving license and access to a vehicle
- Good and up to date understanding of principles and practice of psychopharmacology and psychological treatments in psychiatry
- Further training in any psychiatric specialty
- Some experience of clinical audit
