We are looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to join our Education Team within the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Unit (AEM) at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital. If you have 2 years experience or more at teaching within a clinical setting such as Acute Medicine/ITU/ED or a clinical teaching environment, simulation experience around patient safety and pathways and clinical skills training and Human Factors and also an interest in sepsis guideline support then this will be the post for you.

You will be joining an existing team and will be responsible for the clinical training and development of all nursing and healthcare staff within both areas. You will be undertaking in situ simulation, sepsis training and planned study days, as well as supporting newly qualified nursing staff within both areas in their 4 week induction and preceptorship.

Your role will also include undertaking report writing and data collection to be reported into the Matron Lead for the team and supporting evidence for CQC and LQA action plans, as well as maintaining the care group database for training.

Part of the role will incorporate working as a sepsis nurse 1 day a week to support the new NICE sepsis Guidelines and providing on departmental training for all staff to ensure timely care for AQ targets.

We will require you to either have PGCE or be willing to undertake this training within the first 12 months of starting your role as part of the TNA programme.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be key in the implementation of the education strategy for the emergency care setting. They will provide supervision in practice and deliver training, whilst establishing the training requirements in the setting to ensure the necessary workforce skill mix. They will link the education strategy for the emergency care setting with the overall strategy for education in the organisation. They will work closely with the lead nurse managers, and education providers, including higher education institutes (HEIs) in providing and supporting learners within the ED.

The post will involve managing a small group of nurse educators to ensure that they are delivering high quality education across the division. The post holder will work closely with both AMU and ED to build working relations and ensure educational and clinical standards across the care group.

The post holder should have experience in leadership, change management and education, having a track record of education of others is paramount.

To conduct and facilitate in-house teaching for the staff relating to their speciality.

Support the continuing professional development programme by planning the educational needs of the directorate for PDPs and appraisals.

Input to a database to hold records of all education and training delivered to staff.

Support the communication skills strategy for the department.

Working as part of the sepsis programme as sepsis educator and nurse in ED and AMU

Undertaking in situ simulation with regards to pathways and safety incidents

Undertaking Human Factors training within the care group.

The job will be Monday - Friday
