Term Time Only 37.5 hours per week term time only (38 weeks a year)

Recent investment in the special school nursing provision in our service has created several opportunities for Children's Nurses or Learning Disability Nurses. We are looking for an experienced nurse who have a passion for working with children with complex health needs supporting them to access their education. This post is particularly attractive to someone who requires a flexible working arrangement and would like to work term time only. The role is a valuable opportunity to be part of an experienced team, to develop your professional expertise and make a difference where it matters.

This post offers excellent opportunities to care for children with a wide range of physical / learning disabilities who have complex physical health needs who attend five special schools in Coventry. We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse with excellent organisational, personal and clinical skills. A good working knowledge of SEND and safeguarding are also key. The post will involve training and supporting carers.

We can offer the successful candidate the opportunity to be part of a warm and friendly team. They will be supported in the role by clinical leads, a clinical education team and clinical nurse specialists as well as the operational management and medical teams..

The service received an overall rating of Good by the CQC and an Outstanding for care and compassion of which we are rightly proud.

The post holder will deliver a wide range of clinical care to pupils during the school day. Team working and especially experience in multi-agency working is essential as the post will also involve working with education and social care to provide holistic care to CYP on the caseload. The successful candidate will have good communication skills, be a team player whilst being able to work autonomously when required. A sense of fun and creativity are also valuable traits. Person Specification

QUALFICATIONS

Essential

  • Registered Children's / learning disability/adult Nurse who holds effective registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Nursing Degree or equivalent qualification or willingness to work towards
  • Teaching and assessing qualification or willingness to work towards


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • High standard of written communication skills
  • Must demonstrate safe clinical practice including risk assessment
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of supporting babies, children and young people with a range of complex health needs and/or life limiting conditions
  • Must have good working knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection
  • Must be able to demonstrate sound personal management skills - time management, prioritising, planning


EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate relevant effective learning from this experience
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience working with children with complex health needs and disabilities


Desirable

  • Experience working in special schools
