While this is a Band 8a post, we also welcome applications from trainees and candidates at a Band 7 level who would progress on a development / preceptorship scheme to 8a, typically over a 12-to-24-month period.

If you are keen to use and develop your clinical neuropsychology skills in the dynamic, interdisciplinary field of acquired brain, working with survivors and their families, we are excited to invite you to join our growing psychological services network within LNWUH. We are welcoming applications form clinical psychologists and those still in training, to join our friendly, high-performing and dynamic team on the Regional Hyper-acute Rehabilitation Unit (RHRU) as a permanent full-time band 7 or 8a clinical psychologist.

Qualifying trainee clinical psychologists will be given the opportunity to progress to the 8a post through a one to two year preceptorship model.The Trust is making significant investments in developing its psychology services and the successful candidate would benefit from strong links to psychology colleagues in other teams at the hospital.The LNWUH Psychology Network provides enhanced opportunities for more recently qualified psychologists who wish to gain experience across other physical health and neuro settings. Personalised development plans are established from recruitment onwards.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide a highly specialist psychology service to patients with acquired brain injury and their families including specialist assessment, treatment planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
  • Contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe and informed environment
  • Initiate and collaborate in service evaluation, audit and research.Provide clinical supervision, consultation and training, functioning as a lead specialist in the provision of psychological care including neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation
  • Work as an autonomous professional within the guidelines and policies of the BPS, HCPC and LNWH, taking responsibility for interpreting policies within defined parameters.
  • Agree outcomes/results with clinical/professional lead and to decide how they are best achieved.

Beyond the RHRU, the Psychology Service is part of the wider LNWH Psychological Services Network (PSN) that brings together psychological specialists from across the Trust. This role includes participation in the teaching, support and service development activities of PSN.
